Taking place May 27-30, 2010 at the Richmond Cultural Centre in Richmond, BC, New Asia Film Festival is a community-based annual event committed to showcasing cutting-edge films and media art works from around the world. Centred on contemporary and progressive themes related to Asian cultures, this festival provides a rare opportunity for local residents to see films that are not readily available for viewing in Canada and to enjoy cinema as an art form.
Initiated by a "lonely banana… but has since expanded to a number of like minded bananas and FOBs," this blog explores what it means to be "banana" and celebrates real Canadian heroes – Asian flavoured or otherwise.
The purpose of the Society is to promote the appreciation and understanding of the arts of Asia by bringing quality programs, exhibitions and publications to interested groups and individuals in Canada and by exploring links among the cultures of Asia.
The Canadian arts and literary magazine scene is blooming with vitality. We are honoured to have these publications as partners and friends.

Serai is a Persian word which means ‘resting place’ or a ‘place of transience’ for a traveler. Founded in 1986, Montreal Serai is an arts magazine that publishes fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and reviews of film, music, art, exhibitions, theater and dance. Along with our theater group of the same name, the Serai collective strives to promote works that are not exclusively franco, anglo, allo — works that reflect and assert the diverse world we live in.
