14.2 The Aesthetics Issue

In this issue, we posed a question to our writers:

What kinds of aesthetics are coming out of the Asian Canadian community?

The answer was enthusiastic and diverse, and as our editor Eury writes in the Editor’s Note:

“We are pleased that writers and artists are keen to explore the complex meaning of Aesthetics in a variety of ways. Yoko Takashima’s visual art contains inspiration from home, a kind of domestic aesthetic; Peter Chin’s choreography and Jessica Jone’s family business are both influenced by cultural memory; Henry Tsang’s Napa North project explores the politics and the use of natural landscape; Evelyn Lau offers us more personal poetic reflections; and C.E. Gatchalian reveals a compelling new play excerpt. These articles and more cna be found within this issue; take a wild trip into some multi-faceted stories, lives and aesthetics.” – Eury Chang
