Submission Guidelines
Ricepaper articles offers background and Pacific Rim Asian Canadian context to ongoing arts and cultural issues, new perspectives on emerging and established Asian Canadian artists, challenge to the mainstream media perspective, little-known fact of interests, or a critical story that hasn’t been told elsewhere.
Before submitting work, please read an issue of the print magazine and be sure you are familiar with our approach. Pay particular attention to writing style and content. Articles for Ricepaper should have a literary approach, and be written in language direct enough to be accessed by a high schooler, with adequate research and ingenuity to interest a university professor. Ricepaper readers are knowledgeable and intelligent. Avoid a pedantic writing style, bookish vocabulary, angst-ridden themes and excessively scholastic reasoning.
Who can submit work?
Writers of any & all cultural backgrounds are encouraged to submit non-fiction feature articles, stories, and profiles about Asian Canadian artists and culture, broadly defined.
