March 18-19 (Thursday to Friday), 8pm, Roundhouse (181 Roundhouse Mews)
- Watch LAFA & Artists Dance Company from Taiwan perform three dances (Single Room, 37 Arts, Lament) at the Roundhouse. LAFA & Artists features Fang-Yi Sheu who was formerly at the Martha Graham Company as a principal dancer as well as choreographer Pagarlava Bulareyaung, formerly at Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan. Part of the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad.
March 18, 20 (Thursday, Saturday), 7:30pm, Queen Elizabeth Theatre (649 Cambie)
- Vancouver Opera’s performance of John Adams’s Nixon in China. Nixon in China premiered March 13th, and is only showing for two more nights. This has gotten rave reviews from Vancouver Sun, the Georgia Straight, and a host of other media outlets. Part of the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad. This blog recently featured a recap of one of Vancouver Opera’s community engagement events for Nixon in China.
March 19 (Friday), 8pm, ANZA Club (3 West 8th)
- Sad Mag launches their third issue with music and live performances.
March 22 (next Tuesday), 8pm, Cafe Deux Soleils (2096 Commercial)
- Vancouver Youth Poetry Slam – poetry slam competition for those ages 13 to 22.

Hopefully, I will be able to see Lixin Fan’s Last Train Home this weekend (only showing at the Ridge Theatre). A profile of Lixin Fan was featured in the 15.1 Trade Routes issue. I haven’t been able to make it to the movie theatre yet this year.
