Idea sharing session for Pinoy youth
Date: July 17, 2010
Time: 7:00 p.m.- 10:00 p.m.
Where: 422 Richards Street (corner Hastings Street) Vancouver British Columbia
If you are Filipino, this may be a way to discover (or re-discover) your roots. This initiative is looking to establish a program to introduce young Filipinos to the Filipino culture, heritage and history. There will be an emphasis on Tagalog courses and the creation of an environment that encourages the use of this language. As well, there is the hope to have something in Vancouver similar to the Kapisanan Philippine Centre for Arts and Culture in Toronto (http://www.kapisanancentre.com/).
The next meeting is on July 17th (Saturday) 4pm at 422 Richards Street (corner Hastings Street) and objectives are to get feedback and consensus on the initial ideas and formulate the outline of a general program. At this meeting, we’ll also discuss the interest of youth for a lecture series on Filipino history and culture.
