What better way to spend an evening celebrating poetry than sharing great literary work by local writers with the world?  Griffin Vancouver is the first-ever satellite event featuring a live broadcast of the Griffin Poetry Prize awards ceremonies, great catered food and drink, music and live readings from some of the west coast’s finest poets!

This event is a celebration of poetry, of great BC writers, and the creative literary and publishing community in and around Vancouver.

The roster of poets is still being put together, but those confirmed to appear are:

Evelyn Lau, Vancouver Poet Laureate, bestselling and award-winning writer and great champion of the Vancouver writing community.

Jen Currin, author of The Sleep of Four Cities (Anvil Press, 2005) and Hagiography (Coach House, 2008) and The Inquisition Yours (Coach House, 2010).

Matt Rader, author of Living Things and Miraculous Hours, shortlisted for everything, longlisted for more. He lives in the Comox Valley.

Marita Dachsel, author of All Things Said and Done.

Zaccheus Jackson Nyce, Vancouver Slam Poet Champion.

By featuring the Griffin Poetry Prize broadcast, it is the hope that a connection can be made more directly between friends and colleagues across the country while showcasing the great work being created and shared out here.

When: Thursday, June 7, 2012 from 5:30 PM (PT) to 9:30 PM (PT)
Where: W2 Media Cafe
111 West Hastings Street,
Vancouver, British Columbia
