Ricepaper Call for Submissions — “Organization”1 min read

We are pleased to announce the theme for our upcoming issue: Organization. In an increasingly complex world, the way we structure our lives, thoughts, and societies is more important than ever. From the systems we create to make sense of chaos, to the structures that break down, we want to explore what it means to organize, be organized, and live within (or resist) organized structures.

We invite writers, poets, essayists, and artists to interpret this theme broadly and creatively. Whether through fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or visual art, we are looking for submissions that delve into the following:

  • Personal Organization: How do people structure their daily lives? Is the order a form of control or freedom?
  • Social & Political Structures: Explore how societies and communities are organized. What systems work, and what falls apart?
  • Mental and Emotional Organization: How do individuals make sense of their inner world? What happens when thoughts or emotions become disorganized?
  • Natural Organization: How does nature organize itself? What can we learn from ecosystems, patterns, and cycles?
  • Chaos vs. Order: How do we reconcile the tension between organization and chaos, both internally and externally?

We are open to fresh perspectives, experimental forms, and genre-bending works that surprise us with unique takes on the theme.
