Centred on contemporary and progressive themes related to Asian cultures, the New Asia Film Festival is committed to showcasing cutting-edge films and media art works from around the world. Their mission is to “introduce and promote new Asian cinema, to stimulate critical thinking and new means of expression, to foster intercultural understanding and communication, and to enhance cultural exchange between Canada, Asia, and the world.” A tall order, but one I think they’ll be able to accomplish.
It’s happening at the Richmond Cultural Centre, 7700 Minoru Gate. Tickets are only $5.
Ricepaper will be attending some of these films, so say “Hey!” if you see us there.
